Social responsibility

Družbena odgovornost

We are aware that our operations have a significant impact on the social environment, as the reason the company was established was to generate additional funds for pension insurance through the management of assets entrusted to it and the management of the funds of our compulsory supplementary pension insurance policyholders.

A worry-free old age is just one of the values of the society in which we live. In accordance with our mission, we strive to consistently uphold this value, operate responsibly and understand the needs of our stakeholders: our employees, the users of our services and the wider social community.

Socially responsible conduct is a constantly dynamic process. Changes in the economic and social environment, in particular in the work process, which is constantly developing and adapting to new business functions, requires that Kapitalska družba invest in employees’ knowledge and skills and build an organisational culture that fosters and promotes innovation. Our employees have the right to, and are given the opportunity to undertake, continuous education and training. Collective voluntary pension insurance, which is provided to all employees under equal conditions, is another important way of securing and increasing the future social security of employees. The provider of the insurance is the open mutual equity pension fund of Modra zavarovalnica − KVPS.

We are a family-friendly company

Družbena odgovornost

At Kapitalska družba, d.d., we are aware of the importance of balancing work and family life. We are therefore proud members of the family-friendly company project. Our team comprises relatively young, highly qualified and educated employees, including many young parents with small children. We strive to further improve the working environment and to make it possible for all employees to balance their work and family life. We received the basic certificate on 14 May 2010; this led to us to carry out eight measures that enabled us to meet the requirements for the full certificate, which was awarded by the audit council on 20 September 2013. The full certificate is an upgrade of the basic certificate that was valid from 2010 to 2013.

In order to retain the full certificate, we added four new measures, which we are required to implement in the next three years, to those measures already adopted: flexible management of working hours; opinion surveys of employees and the provision of additional information to employees; the training of managers to enable work and family life to be balanced more effectively; an additional day off for parents with children in the first three years of primary school; more flexible working days for parents when their child is starting nursery school; and the reintroduction of employees following extended absences from work.

The new measures relate to socialising among employees, the involvement of employees’ families in temporary work at the organisation/company, gifts for employees’ newborns, and new Year’s gifts for employees’ children. The proposed new measures took into account the general economic conditions of the company’s operations (economic conditions, announced transformation, and austerity measures at state and state company level) and established best practices at personal events among company employees.

Kapitalska družba has purchased a defibrillator (AED)

Kapitalska družba kupila defibrilator (AED)

In June 2015 Kapitalska družba decided to purchase a defibrillator for first aid in the event of cardiac arrest. It is located in the common area of the company’s main office building, and is publicly accessible to everyone in the building and the surrounding area. The aim of the purchase was to contribute to improving the chances of resuscitating cardiac arrest victims. The purchase of this equipment means greater safety for all and takes emergency care to the next level.

Although using an AED is straightforward, Kapitalska družba has provided training in its use and invited all employees, as well as other interested parties in the office building, to take part.

The defibrillator is located in the common area by the entrance to the Stekleni Dvor building at Dunajska 119, on the left-hand side by the fire alarm. It is available for use on working days between 7 am and 7 pm. The defibrillator is entered in the AED database with the aim of raising public awareness about the importance and accessibility of the device by all those in the vicinity of the company.

Waste separation

The careless use of natural resources and the pollution of the environment are pressing issues that Kapitalska družba can no longer ignore. We have therefore established a separate waste collection system that makes it easier to re-use and/or process waste. We also collect plastic bottle caps separately and, together with our subsidiary company Modra zavarovalnica, d.d., use those caps for charitable purposes.

We use electricity from renewable sources

In 2016 we issued an invitation to tender for the supply of electricity in accordance with the Decree on Green Public Procurement. Taking its provisions and requirements into account, we signed an agreement on the supply of 100% of our electricity from renewables. Energy that is produced from environmentally friendly, renewable sources does not use fossil fuels, while the production of energy from renewable sources does not drain natural resources. The use of renewables reduces the burden on the environment from greenhouse gases, harmful emissions and radioactive waste.
